NOTE: Ribbons of Blue is no longer operating from the Capes office due to funding cuts.
Ribbons of Blue is an environmental education and water quality monitoring network that raises community awareness, develops skills and encourages involvement in our waterways.
Ribbons of Blue regional coordinators support local school and community involvement through curriculum linked activities, public events and liaison between other environmental networks. Each region focuses on local environmental and water quality issues specific to their catchment.
Students in our region participate in activities such as macroinvertebrate sampling in local waterways, water quality monitoring, catchment tours and revegetation and learning about river processes.
In 2008 the WA Ribbons of Blue network has launched the curriculum-linked teacher resource kit "Ribbons of Blue In and Out of the Class Room". The printed kit will be available to teachers in Term 1.
